MULTI-VENDOR ATM TESTING MADE SIMPLE WITH LEVEL FOUR SOFTWARE

Level Four extends testing capability to support Triton and Tidel ATMs

London, Tuesday 9th September 2003 - Level Four Software, a leading provider of ATM test and development software today announced that it has extended its product suite to support off-premise ATM devices from Triton and Tidel. Level Four's ATM Simulator can now automatically test the upgrade or implementation of new services across ATM networks containing Triton and Tidel machines. This brings much efficiency for institutions running multi-vendor networks, where the volume of testing is extremely intensive.

The continuing uptake of off-premise ATMs across Europe provides a strong business case for banks and ATM network providers to automate ATM testing. Financial institutions are keen to offer convenient banking through well situated, off-premise ATMs, but inevitably it increases the level of ATM support required. Automated ATM testing provides dramatic timesaving and cost reductions, while enabling the rapid deployment of new applications.

Accessed via a desktop PC, Level Four's ATM Simulator connects as a virtual ATM into the host system, and behaves in exactly the same way as a real ATM. It can script the behaviour of any type of ATM, including new market entrants such as Triton and Tidel providing off-premise ATMs.

Carlos Siewczynski, vice president of international sales, Tidel Technologies Inc., comments, "It is welcome news that Level Four has expanded its products to support our ATM devices. Using Level Four's software, our customers can now test an entire transaction lifecycle automatically, from entering the card into the ATM through to the host system, all from a desktop PC. The benefits and cost savings are remarkable."

The major advantage of ATM Simulator over competitive solutions is its ability to visualise the ATM interfaces such as screens and receipts. ATM Simulator creates an exact replica of the customer screen transaction flow as well as the operator panel interaction. By using a mouse and keyboard, a bank can interact with an ATM exactly like a customer. All actions are graphically represented. Card entry and cash dispensing are even animated to provide a realistic user interface. This makes the testing process much more realistic and far easier to use by and removing the need for users to understand or programme different types of ATM message protocols, empowering institutions to bring ATM testing in-house.

Level Four's primary involvement with multi-vendor networks has been through ATMOS, the ATM and card outsourcing division of LINK Interchange Network Ltd. Every ATM managed by ATMOS is connected to the LINK network, the world's busiest ATM network with 43,000 ATMs, and the most popular cash withdrawal channel in the UK. ATMOS uses Level Four products to provide technical development support, end-to-end testing capabilities and to assist in the preparation of ATMs under ATMOS management for migration to the new EMV standard.

Martin Macmillan, CEO, Level Four comments, "Off premise ATMs represent a significant growth industry and our tools are used to help test and integrate these devices into existing networks and thereby enable rapid deployment in response to market demands."

Level Four's primary software technology is the ATM Channel Development Suite - a comprehensive toolkit that allows financial institutions to develop, test and rapidly deploy new content and applications within their ATM delivery channels. It includes ATM Simulator, ATM Developer and the EMV FastTrack and 3DES FastTrack plug-ins. 3DES FastTrack is designed to help banks prepare their ATM networks for compliance with the Triple-DES security standard, and supports remote key management functions and Encrypted PIN Pad (EPP) devices.
