LEVEL FOUR APPOINTS NIGEL WALSH AS EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN
Financial technology pioneer Nigel Walsh joins fast growing ATM software firm, to play a key role in expansion plans for UK and EuropeLondon, UK, 1st July, 2002 — Level Four Software, a leading provider of best-of-breed ATM test and development software, today announced the appointment of Nigel Walsh to the board of directors, in the role of executive chairman. Walsh will help progress the growth plans of Level Four, targeting UK and European banks wishing to add new functionality to their existing ATM networks.
Nigel Walsh has an exceptional track record in growing successful IT businesses. As one of the founders and an executive director of UK financial software company, The Software Partnership, he was responsible for taking the company from a start-up into an international market leader, specialising in electronic delivery channels for financial services.
Following the multi-million dollar private sale of The Software Partnership to a US Fortune 500 corporation, Walsh has taken on a number of chairmanships and non-executive board positions with emerging software companies serving the finance sector.
Walsh comments, "I am excited about working with Level Four. They have the right products at the right time to grow a substantial business in the ATM and POS marketplace, particularly with the imminent introduction of EMV smart cards. Having developed their products in response to the direct needs of a small number of demanding UK banks, they now have solutions to problems which all banks currently face. I will assist them in bringing their products to the market and in developing the right company structure to support the growth I am convinced they will enjoy."
Banks are under enormous pressure to provide relevant and meaningful applications on their ATMs and turn these ‘cost-centres’ into a profitable customer service channel. Level Four’s software enables banks to add new revenue-generating applications such as mobile phone top-up and personalised advertising coupons onto existing ATM networks, without requiring costly network upgrades. Level Four also offer a component to aid banks in the preparation for the imminent introduction of new EMV smart cards. EMV FastTrack enables banks to thoroughly test ATM software before deployment, ensuring a smooth transition for customers.
Martin Macmillan, CEO, Level Four comments, "Nigel is a well known character in the marketplace. He’s been out there and done it himself, so he brings a wealth of industry experience to Level Four." Martin adds, "He is great to work with and we are looking forward to the next stage in the company’s development with excitement."
Level Four’s primary software technology is the ATM Channel Development Suite - a comprehensive toolkit that allows financial institutions to develop, test and rapidly deploy new content and applications within their ATM delivery channels. The ATM Channel Development Suite enables financial institutions to offer relevant, personalised and interactive functionality to customers through their existing ATM networks.
